Two longstanding literacy organizations, Literacy Volunteers of Lee County and the Literacy Council of Bonita Springs, merged on July 1, 2011. Welcome to our new website! Literacy Council Gulf Coast is our new name chosen to reflect our growth throughout Lee and North Collier Counties. Last year we served over 3,100 students improve their English language, reading, computer and conversation skills and to pass the U.S. Citizenship exam. Over 900 moms and their preschool children studied English together to prepare the children to start school ready to learn.

We are proud of our work through the dedication of over 700 volunteers to help members of the community become more productive and to achieve their goals.

This has been an exciting year filled with changes! We are strengthening our existing programs and seeking expansion opportunities to more adequately serve our community. The need is great throughout the area and we are committed to serving all those who ask for assistance with their literacy goals.

Now we have a brand new website! We hope that you find it interesting and enlightening. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about how you can become a part of this exciting and growing organization!
