Donation to support free English literacy classes

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.— (Dec. 29, 2025) Meridian Bank donated $1,500 to the Literacy Council Gulf Coast. The donation will support Literacy Council Gulf Coast (LCGC) free English literacy classes to adults and children in Southwest Florida. LCGC trains more than 100 volunteer tutors who provide one-on-one and group classes, to empower students with skills to support success in their daily lives, careers and communities.

“We’re so thankful to Meridian Bank for their generous donation,” said Leah Mason, executive director of LCGC. “This donation allows us to empower those to teach and learn English literacy skills, which not only supports the individual student but the community at large.”

Meridan Bank’s Bonita Spring branch opened on Nov. 12. It’s the first full-service location in Florida and is led by SWFL retail market leader, Lorrie Kopko. Meridian Bank supports the LCGC and its mission to teach English literacy to SWFL families.
