English literacy nonprofit hosted Brunch & Bubbles
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (March 20, 2026) — Literacy Council Gulf Coast (LCGC) hosted its annual fundraiser, “Brunch & Bubbles” at noon, on Sunday, March 1, at Spanish Wells Country Club in Bonita Springs with over 100 guests and supporters. The event spotlighted LCGC’s efforts to strengthen literacy in the community while recognizing the dedicated tutors and students who support and benefit from its programs.
The annual fundraiser featured a new twist which gave guests the opportunity to meet Ed DeJesus, author of “The Vulnerable,” a Fort Myers–based, multi-award-winning writer who incorporates familiar local landmarks into his storytelling. Wendy Fullerton Powell, vice president and Florida region editor for the USA TODAY Network and executive editor of the Naples Daily News, served as master of ceremonies. Auctioneer Shannon Livingston lead guests through an exciting live auction and paddle raise.

“We are so grateful to our community, that showed up for our students and our mission” said Executive Director Leah Mason. “This event ignited exciting momentum for our upcoming fundraisers, and the remainder our 2026 year.”
Funds raised will help strengthen the many programs that enhance literacy and language skills, which contribute to community and economic success.
